Goes what - another puffin!
I'm thinking that maybe this months theme should have been 'puffins'! Seems like we're all at it!
Here's my favourite flight shot from a trip to Skomer, load more to sort through - might even post one or two - but Skomer never fails to deliver, especially on an overnight stay with better light and no crowds of day-trippers.

Very nice shot here Mike. Details look great and I love the look against that background. May look a touch dark on my screen and if mine I would try to add a little more brightness to the shot.

Oh, wow! Head angle, flight angle, wing position, sharpness on the eye and beak, fish in the mouth....absolutely everything !

Nice and sharp on the head, and I love the fish eyes. Good work catching the bullet in flight. Puffins galore this week.

Mike, sweet shot, nice BG, action, and prey. I wish there was a bit more room around the whole thing though, looks a bit cramped IMO.

Hi Mike, I've been reading that these guys are pretty nifty flyers, so very well captured. I like the angle, and that you are showing a beak full of food. Killer BG. I agree, a little more in front wont harm the image.

Excellent! I do agree with more room in front, but this is a high impact image! Terrific incoming flight path and superb background. Are you able to extract some details on the brightest parts of the fish?

Excellent capture and sharpness. Do you stay on the island or on the mainland?

Hi Isaac, thanks for looking. I'd say overall the brightness is about right, is there a specific part of the shot you think is too dark or do you think everything needs raising a little?

Thanks Tim, I tried a bit of a tighter crop than normal here so maybe you're right. I've seen lots of tightly framed shots from the 'flight specialists' on here and tried to replicate the framing, possibly too much
cheers

Cheers Dan, I'll try a bit more when I get time to do a looser crop as suggested.

Going on a day trip is a great experience and if you get lucky with bright overcast conditions you can get good shots but for the best photography you need to be there overnight, a far better experience

Wow!! What a great looking frame Mike!! Killer details, exposure, BG and colors. Great look at the fish too. I can see why you cropped this tight, great details on the head, but maybe just a little more room all the way around would be good. Well done.
