Default Yellow Warbler Fledgling Under An Umbrella.

This little guy was only inches from the ground, sitting on this vine on the forest floor. It looked rather young to be a "ready" fledgling, perhaps a fallen nestling. I looked for a nearby nest with no luck. The parents showed up very soon after and were rather agitated, so after a few frames I moved away and observed from a distance - I saw the little one being fed on a couple of occasions, so at least there was some hope!

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/100s., f/4, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, FF, darkened the pupil, lightened the iris, toned down the brightest thin stem, NR to the OOF areas.

Love the image design and the leaf umbrella. Bad luck on the left foot. Were you sitting and bracing the lens or straight hand holding at 1/100 sec. Either way, pretty darned good. with love, artie

Thanks Artie, yep, bad luck for that foot - that was the clearest I could get it, not for a lack of trying! As for bracing: I was on one knee (right knee the the ground) - left elbow braced to left knee.

    Daniel:

Very cute, and before I read Artie's comment, was doing to mention the "leaf umbrella" as well. All you need to complete the effect are some drops of water beaded on the umbrella.

    Well captured.

    Cheers

Daniel cute shot of this little guy, sweet details and comp. I'm glad you backed off and observed, around here (So. CA.)
I see the opposite going on with no regards to the bird at all, it's very disheartening.

I really like the detail on the bird, and being surrounded by the greenery, makes it look real nice. Love the DOF.

Beautiful framing, and details, especially at 1/100th, very impressive. Kudos for doing the right thing for the bird as well
