I assume the Shag must have some reflex action that allows the chick to delve deeply to retrieve the meal inside????

Well captured Steve, I like the colours and details on both birds. You even managed a good HA Its quite an amazing image really. I have been photographing shags for years, and never seen this before. I will have to lookout for it, when I go to the Isle of May on Saturday.
Late on this one but Steve this is killer. DOF was great and I love how soft the feathers look on the young one. Great looking eye and expression as well. Really nice behavior capture. TFS
