i like the way the background is making him/her stand out, plus the alert posture and the catchlight in the eye.

Hi Jon - Nice low pov and dof. To me the cottontail appears a bit too contrasty and oversharpened. I would also consider darkening the bg slightly so it doesn't draw the eye as much. Personally, I would want a much higher ss in the field to ensure a higher keeper rate.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Cute little bunny, aren't the ears small! Our rabbits have bigger ears. I haven't seen a cotton tail but my initial reaction was the to question the contrast on the rabbit. You did well to get a sharp image at that shutter speed - perhaps the stabiliser helped along with steady hands!

John,I actually echo many of Jon's comments, immediately drawn to those small ears and amazing to see this sharpness at 1/40. The POV is killer john it really makes this shot for me lovely bkg too. Interesting to note Rachel's comments, John, about the bkg and sharpness, I don't find the bkg too bright, but I'm mentally noting this,I feel as we learn we hone our eyes. Being unable to selectively sharpen as of yet it's tricky commenting on this application in post, but I am starting to become aware of what is meant by crunchy

lovely post John special for a bunny hugger,to see all these largomorphs from around the world, cheers for sharing this. I hope you had some luck with the deer

    take care

    Dear John,

I am just as delighted as Stuart to see this Cottontail - very cute and I like the surprised look on his face, lovely pose, great POV. You got away with some low SS:)

Like Rachel, I too feel the subject does looks a tad over-sharpened and overall the image appears a little bright - I took the liberty to make a few changes - WDYT, does this work for you?

Thank you so much for sharing,

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

I have a hard time getting a rabbit to stay put long enough to get a shot, so I really appreciate this crisp photo!
