    Default Before and after

This is a juvenile red-winged black bird I photographed last winter in Victoria BC. I was setup for the sun when this guys suddenly perched in the shade, didn't think about changing exposure so it was underexposed at ISO 2000. However I was able to lift the shadows with no loss of quality thanks to 5D4 and DPP4.5. hope you like this frame

Great recovery and thanks for sharing the before photo -- its very helpful to see exactly what has changed. Nice details colors and the perch is very cool. A nice BG as well. In the original it looks like there are some specular highlights that I'm not seeing in the edited version -- were those edited out or just smoothed over with NR? Thanks for sharing!

Good capture. I like the pose, perch and bg with sharp focus and detail. Guessing you used Neat Image on this one.

    Hi Alex,

I used neat image on the BG (not the bird) the specular highlights were smoothened by NR and I also manually cleaned up its beak. DPP handled all the NR that was needed by the bird

Now that is how you make a common bird look great. Love the pose, had angle and that chocolate background. Love this.
