    Snapping turtle portrait captured the other morning down by the lake. Camera on tripod with mirror lock up, triggered with remote. Image is cropped and rotated.

    Hi John,
    I really like this straight on look of the turtle with the critical focus on the eyes and good sharpness within your DOF. Love the pattern of the eyes.
    While this is excellent, with the FF body I could see another version trying a higher ISO and narrower aperture which may help bring more of the snout in focus. Still a terrific frame and one I would like to call my own.

    Great focus on those eyes! For me, the image would have even more impact if that sharp beak was also in focus. Allen makes a good suggestion above. Another thing that will increase your DOF is to simply back off a little further from your subject (and crop a little more in post). Just a couple things to keep in mind for next time.
