Taken in Vancouver near sunset. The BG is sky and distant mountains and treeline.

Amazing how these owls will fly so close to you if you just sit and wait. All that is needed is patience!
Almost FF- cropped slightly for comp on LHS.Shadows on the far wing lifted.

Really nice image Gail, love the wing position, the eye detail and that the owl is on the lighter section of the background. Really nice light also. Well done. Thank you for sharing

My favorite part of this image is that the owl is flying into the sun. Like the hint of BG mountains and the shadows under the wings. It adds interest and gives you a sense of time. When it comes to nature photography, patience is usually your friend.

Hi Gail, lovely image. I agree with Marina that the owl flying into the sun adds to the image, nice catch light. All works well. I might lighten the bottom a tad, not sure would have to try and see. Thank you for sharing.

The gold eye really pops and the BG is so complimentary. Well done!

A really fine image Gail---one of the best I've seen showing the underwing feather detail.

Great flight shot, Gail. Love that eye, and wonderful wing position and detail. I spent many frigid evenings trying to get this shot, to no avail. Our SEOWs never wanted to come out and play until after dark.
