    Default Tri-colored Heron Fledgling

Dottie and I went to the rookery at Gatorland early Friday morning. A big change in the two weeks since our last visit. The Tri-colored Heron chicks seemed to be everywhere. The Cattle Egret eggs have hatched with small gray chicks in the nest. This is a image of one of the Tri-colored Heron fledglings, the bird in the shade, the background in the sun. I had not seen a Tri-colored fledgling before and absolutely love the browns and grays in the feathers. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

    Nice portrait Joe.
Good IQ and exposure and I like the little fly-away bits of feathers at the crown.
The white area at the top RUC is a bit bright and I would lower the brightness or expose or burn that area slightly.
Good detail on the feathers and you got pretty good DOF coverage considering you were at 5.6,
    Gail

    Hi Joe,

Wonderful capture. I agree the browns and grays are beautiful on the fledgling. Also agree with Gail on dropping the exposure a tad.

Love the look of this one an great to see the youngster. Details look very nice. Instead of burning the upper right I would just clone it out using the top left as a source. Background looks like it could use a little more noise reduction to me as well. Man I wish these guys were there when I was with you.

Looking good Joe. Love the colours throughout the bird, which looks good against the BG.
