This beauty is the state bird of New Jersey, Iowa, and Washington. They often travel with Pine Siskins and Common Redpolls. Captured this image in Ithaca NY last month. C&C welcome.

Beautiful bird, lovely colors. I remember them from our bird feeders up north. Nice view of the feet, wish the tail was raised above the rock perch. Perfect background, compliments the bird. Thank you for sharing, Geoffrey.

They are indeed beautiful little birds, this one still showing some spring molt. I like the open beak, and lovely background.

I love AMGF. I did not know they were the state bird of NJ, Iowa and Washington. They love Nova Scotia as well!!
A unique rock perch and I like his fat little belly!
Nice view of the feet and the whites look good (it is so easy to blow the whites on these birds).
I think you could sharpen the head a bit more,
    Gail

I also really like the rocky perch. BG looks nice as do the colors and eye. I agree with Gail that you could do a little more sharpening on the face. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks everyone. Gail, the raw and .jpg are tack sharp. Not sure what is the reason.
