I can't seem to clean up the noisy background anymore and yes, the perch leave a lot to be desired. That said, I've never been so close to one of these busy birds so I couldn't resist the shot. I'm happy to have finally gotten a shot displaying the detail of a Barn Swallow.

I like the green background and the pose on the bird. I agree with you about the perch.

    Hi Daniel,
Background noise seems fine to me and the details on the bird are really nice. Agree about the perch but still a fine capture. Did you add a strong amount of saturation to the image?

What fantastic detail - it was a great opportunity and you have grasped it very well.

I don't see anything wrong with the background

Thanks Allen! I just looked in LR at saturation. Here are the changes I made...

    Camera Calibration
    +10 R/G/B

    HSL (SAT/LUM)

    Orange +20/-15
    Yellow 0/+10
    Green +33/-15
    Blue +45/0

Do you think it was too heavy handed?

The image works well as presented. I just thought you may want to try a version with a little less saturated background and see how that works. Of course you were there and I wasn't.

I'll take another look at it in LR Allen - I think removing all green adjustments could improve it actually. Thanks.

I can see why you liked the detail. I like it too. Good self critique, and points made above.
