Kingfishers are one of the most shy birds I see. I was lucky to have this female land close to me before she realized I was there. She was gone when she heard the shutter. Just after sunrise with light mist in the air - mm, 1/800, f6.3, auto ISO-400, +0.3 ev, 500 f4E + 1.4III extender, D500. 20% crop, a couple of twigs removed, PS NR applied to background. cc

Fine capture of this skittish bird, in lovely light, nice bg and interesting perch. Well done. If it's only a 20% crop I could imagine it a little tighter.

    Wow! This is great!
I love the light and the great BG and perch.
I would take a bit more off the RHS of the frame and top,
    Gail

Love it as presented. Nice looking frame John. Lovely pose, HA and feather detail. I also like the perch, bird looks good on it. The colours on the BG look very nice. Overall a nice looking image.

Very nice shot and agree with all that has been said. These guys are impossible to get close to. I think they can read minds and fly when I even think about approaching. Details look very good and I love the perch and clean background. I prefer the repost.

Agree with Isaac that this birds can read minds! I got a couple of In Flight shots, but to get close to them is impossible, I'll work hard to get close next time this guys come down South. I'd be jumping in joy if this was mine. Really well done!. TFS

Beautiful photo! Lovely colors and great details on the Kingfisher. Wish I ever get lucky like that some day in my lifetime!
