Here is another frame from BC last winter. The short-eared owl can fly very close to the ground and blend well with the environment
1DX II 400 DO II + 1.4X III. ISO 2000. f/5.6 1/2500sec. hand held. processed with DPP 4.6

Colours look spot on, a great pose and I like the single catchlight in the eyes.
Hi Arash, I seem to remember making a comment on this forum that I tended to prefer a good in-flight shot of an owl doing its main thing, to the 'perched and staring at the camera' shot. Well, here you have that wonderful stare as well as a top behavioral and environmental shot. Fantastic dynamic tension to this, I love it! You keep giving us all things to aspire to man, keep them coming!
Cheers, David
Very nice those eyes really pop off the background.
Wow, great eye contact and wingspan shot, that f5.6 and extender really make it stand out from the background. nice job!
Killer frame Arash. You really cleaned up with these SEO. So clean and such great detail and eye contact. Really hope to get something half as good as this if I ever go up to BC.
Not much more to add than what has already been praised. Awesome shot.
Hey Arash, how cool!! I love that head-on flight path and intense stare. I have to admit the single brighter grass blade below the owl kinda catches my eye, but it is way easily overshadowed by the subject.
Beautiful frame and I am pretty sure I know where this was! You had great light!
Nice and sharp.
Gail
Fabulous light. I really love the flight pose and the stare. BG colours show the bird real well. Great work.

About as close to perfection as you can get with a shot like this Arash---symmetrical wing angle at full (about) downstroke, eyes parallel to the plane of image, dead-on focus and exposure, and a lovely smooth BG.The wings remind me of oars.
Absolutely astounding! I hope to see one of these in person one day. Great image. Thank you for sharing Arash.
The sharpness, wing position, and those eyes slay me. I could do without a few of the stray grasses ... WIWM too. with love, artie

way too cool, Arash. Love those big pupils in flight and perfect head on. Agreed with Artie about the stray grass, but it is very very minor. Loi
Thank you all

Stunning shot Arash, hard to get better than a head on owl flight - nice wing position here too - a full up or downstroke would have upset the balance for me.
