Love the pose and reflection and yes, very intense heron. I'm seeing little speckles on my monitor, not sure what that is?

Awesome reflection - Love the pose.
Speckles are just floating on the water.

I woukd possibly try to do some work on the eye - sharpen and lighten and saturate or along those lines to try and make it pop a bit.

Hi James Great action !!! Love those early morning still days !!

Do post the exposure compensation, it is very important to figure what you were doing !!! I think this originally was a little under exposed, might want to check on the raw. Exposure should have been just over, the D300 are good for early morning light reading the warmth and opening up on their own.

As presented would try lightening the image some particularly the reflection, would also crop top and bottom for proportion !!! Excellent !!! ...... btw HAP might get you on this one :)

HAP are on the scene!!!! wished you had been just a little ahead of the bird or gotten this same pose a few frames earlier as it looks like he was moving towards you! in any account, it is still pretty cool!!
