    Hi all,

Heres a Song Sparrow from NJ. I know teleconverters aren't ideal with zooms, but I was curious how it would work on the 200-500 and have a chance to use one for a bit, the idea being maybe it would work well in good light and when stopped down a bit. Of course, the first chance I had to use it was a very overcast day with horrible light, so far from ideal conditions with high ISO and low shutter speed (handheld). In post, did some tonal adjustments, warmed the image a bit, brushed over a white spot above the head, did some NR, sharpened, and cropped about ~25/30% off. Not the best perch, but it looks weathered enough that I don't mind it.

    Camera: Nikon D500
    Lens: 200-500mm f/5.6 with TC 1.4 III at 700mm
    Specs: 1/320 ISO 2800 f/8

    Thanks for looking!
    Alex

Alex I think considering the conditions you describe you have done an excellent job, good detail on the bird with it's look back pose and a nice muted bg.

Great one-legged pose, over-the-shoulder look. Lovely muted color palette. IQ looks ok to me given the high ISO, low SS and TC on the zoom. Worth the experiment.

Looks very nice to me I like the pose with the raised foot and the backward glance, yes I would be pleased with that one.
