    Default Question about mongoose

    Hi,

I've read a lot about mongoose here. But, from the photos of it I've seen, is mongoose = sidekick + ball-head permanently joined together?

Are there photos, links, etc., that could show me more of the mongoose...photos from different perspectives, videos?

    Thanks!

    I am using the 3.5a with a nikon D300 and the 12 +/- lbs Nikon 600mm AF-S I
It is working very well for me even with the heavy 600mm.
Art Morris and Robert O'Toole use them as well.

Artie's website has better info than the Mongoose home page.

There are some pix in recent Bulletins and in ABP II. You can seacrch the Bulletin Archives for the former. They may look the same but the sidekick + ballhead combo weighs several pounds more, costs more, and performs inefficiently. We will gladly sell you either. What lens are you planning to put on it?

    Hi Desmond,

I have been a satisfied Mongoose 3.5/Canon 600mm user since early 2007 and have nothing but quality images and experiences since. Highly recommended.

I agree with James and Arthur.

    Thanks for the replies, folks!

Actually, I'm currently using a sidekick/ball-head combo. I never heard about mongoose before till joining this forum. My main lens for birding so far is Nikon 200-400 VR. My plan is not to make another big purchase until my photos get better. Apparently, if that happens, it'd likely be either a 500 or 600. Until then, I think I'm stick with what I have for now.
