From my recent Colorado birding trip. I got in some time to take a few pictures as well. This adult female was busy feeding fairly close to the shoreline. There were thousands of tiny insects on and above the waters surface. I was happy to have caught her with one going down the hatch. From the Walden Reservoir in Colorado. The conditions were bright over cast which is not typically my favorite but I think worked well here. I could not get any lower as there was some vegetation at the waters edge and the water was rough from strong winds so I sat down and had the camera on the tripod with the legs all pulled in fully. Got me to the right height to avoid the low grasses and make sure she was not hidden behind a wave.

Loverly and the light was perfect. The prey item puts it over the top.

Hi Isaac, your low perspective works well enough for me, and you have captured a nice swimming pose. You have brought out the feather detail nicely, I really like the blue/grey colours to the water. The catch visible in the bill takes this over the top.
Can only echo everyone so far -- great light details BG and the prey takes it over the top. I'm always jealous of your shots and this one is no different. Thanks for sharing.
Excellent image all around, even the slightly higher vantage point works really well here. My favorite part is the insect staring directly down the hatch!
