Not often you get to shoot a wild animal portrait on a fisheye lens, but here goes!

Another from my recent diving off Palm Beach. The hardest part of the shoot was avoiding other divers and their bubbles in the background, so I waited until everyone else bar the dive guide had surfaced and we had a few minutes with the sharks just to ourselves. This one gave me a nice close pass - probably less than a foot away from my camera dome.

Unfortunately I'd somehow knocked off the diffuser from my right had strobe, hence the hot spot just in front of the pectoral fin, but hopefully this doesn't distract too much - all that time and effort and cost and a £10 bit of plastic lets you down!

    From a baited dive

    Canon 1dx
    15mm sigma fisheye
    ISO 400
    1/160th f10
Twin Sea and Sea YSd1 strobes (minus one diffuser!)

Mike I don't think I would have noticed the white spot without you pointing it out, great how you get these shots must be very exciting, nice to see the surface water above which I think works very well.

Mike I am mightily impressed! He has some mean looking flesh ripping teeth and I note the sensory pits in the skin along the head. Super detail and I like the colour, including the blue variegated background.

Mike - This is a very impressive image and shark. It pops nicely against the blue bg and the visible teeth take it up a notch. The eye really stands out. The brighter spot doesn't bother me. Well done.

    Rachel

Mike this works so well, deep blue waters and such handsome looking predator...Superb work all around!

I know a lot of local divers who would be so jealous of your frame

    Kind regards,

This works for me here Mike, the open mouth, rich colour, BG surface and bonus Remora all come together, the hot spot is barely noticable.

Hi Mike ... from my POV just top notch . Lovely work and well presented .
, love the angle of shooting and the color / tone combo .
I just might sharpen it a tiny fraction more .

    Thanks Andreas,

I was thinking about a tad more sharpening, may make that alteration.

Not too many more now, I had a great time, but there were about 10 of us on the dives so keeping decent BGs free of divers, and especially bubbles, was the hardest part - some of the best shark poses just don't cut it unfortunately.
