Taken in Costa Rica February 2017 at fly fishing camp that hubby went to.
The place was crawling with birds and I did some perch set-ups with oranges as attractant.

Wow, how do you get such a sharp image without sharpening? This format seems to render all my posted images soft unless I add a ton of sharpening! Love this bird , great pose, eye, and feather detail, cool perch that maybe is bit bright on the right side.

Very nice perch and details on the bird. The light in the eye is nice as well. Good looking pose too. I would do a bit more NR on the BG and maybe tone down the highlights on the upper twig. Looks like you had a great trip to costa rica!

Nice image, nice head angle, and nice job with the perch. As for Michael's question, it is likely that she sharpened the JPEG.

Lovely frame with the angles all pretty much spot on and a nice alert pose. Clean BG and good perch - whats not to like?

A species I have seen a few times. Beautiful picture of it on a nice perch. It is not easy in the tropics to get clean looks at birds and you have done very well with this set up against a perfect background. The only thing I would possibly do is tone down the top of the outer half of the branch. Especially where it curves up. I find it pulls my eye a bit from the subtly beautiful bird. And I would assume that USM stands for unsharp mask and that is how you sharpened the bird.

    Hi Michael,
As Artie and Isaac have already pointed out USM is shorthand for unsharp mask! Agree with you and Alex re: toning down the perch. Thanks for noticing it.
