This is one I captured last week, from the loch. I have always found it very difficult to get close to these birds, this one was flying around the loch, accompanied by a female, and seemed to be doing some sort of courtship. I was standing behind a hedge on the loch side, and I think he was too interested in the female, and never noticed me, until the last minute. I am glad he did, as I got the HA. He landed, then almost instantly flew off.

Great story and capture as well, William. About as good as one can get a banking/approach image with a wonderful head angle. Nice detail throughout.

What a great looking duck species to shoot William. The HA really saved this shot as the body and wings were headed away from you. Well done

Good opportunity for you! Good exposure, colours, comp. I do wish the near wing was open more, or at the very least with more separation from the head.
