    Default Burrowing Owl With Gecko...

    Attached Images Attached Images

This is another image from my recent outing to Cape Coral and Marco Island to photograph the Burrowing Owls and chicks. I was captured images and watching this owl on a perch near the burrow. It flew off the perch to grasp a lizard, which I thought it had seen from the perch and caught. Upon looking at the image on the computer I noticed ants on the lizard which leads me to think it was caught at a previous time and placed on the ground to feed the chicks at a later time. After flying to the ground and grasping the lizard the owl hopped towards the chicks outside the burrow passing the prey to one of the chicks. Comments and critique welcomed and appreciated. Thank you for viewing.

I like the prey in the owls mouth. The grasses are a little distracting to me.

I just love the clear view of the gekko and the ants .
    Very interesting behavior captured.
Nice and sharp. Light is a bit harsh.
It is a pity about the grasses but this is the reality of the environment this guy was in. Simply no way to get around this issue.
I would have been firing away like crazy with this prey in the mouth!
    Well done,

You did well with what you had to work with but you had high light here and a lot of distractions. Nice seeing the prey so clearly. It's not easy finding a clean nest and then once you find one, you have to work it pretty hard.
