I love Coots Bill. Super sharp and lots of detail here. I really feel as though you caught the life of the bird if that makes any sense to you. Did you use a fill flash or was the lighting harsh? My shots don't come anywhere near to the quality of yours, but I'll say this - I think the framing is a little tight. Had I taken it I would have left more dead space to the right (maybe that's why I'm an air traffic controller and not a professional photographer though).

Nice and sharp with lots of detail, i like the contrast between the blue and green.

Thanks Daniel. I agree it is tight in the frame. This is full frame and I didn't have any way to back up. No fill was used; the light was still pretty strong at 5:00 pm.

Nice capture in his habitat, Bill. These are one of my favorite birds and you've gotten a good detailed look at him. I don't mind the framing, but I might lighten or remove the darker out of focus algae upper left.

The detail on the bill, eye and head sets this off nicely. more room would be nice, try content aware on the oversized crop, sometimes it does a remarkable job

Well done Bill, ruby eye, and the blacks look right on... I agree with your self critique of more space, ... a fine image.

Thanks folks. I appreciate the suggestions. Here's a quick fix to add some space top and right.
