This individual was guarding a nest box (located out of the frame at right). It chose the best looking weathered fence post to perch on. Photographed from the comfort and dryness of my car.

Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC III, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/160s., f/8, ISO 1600, natural light, handheld, FF, toned down the white throat ever so slightly, usual eye work.

Beautiful bird, nicely shown. Tech spot on as always. Love the rain in the background. My kingdom for weathered fence posts like that, here when they begin to look old they are replaced. Thank you for sharing, Daniel.

Great shot Dan, love the colours, good choice of shutter speed.
I like the post too. If you were so inclined you could make it less broad but I like it as it is.

Nice pose on the bird with a good head angle. I really like the rain and the weathered perch.

Great frame. Great details throughout. You can feel what the bird is thinking, in that weather. Even the perch being larger than the bird works well here. Well done Dan and TFS

Late to the party but want to echo everyone else. Perch rain and colors are all great here. Very jealous of this frame, TFS
