Pretty cool take-off pose Joe. I think the wings more down or up would be better, although I do like the feather detail on the edge of the nearer wing. The whites on the bird fit nicely with the water colour. Nice trailing legs. Good HA and the prey takes it up a notch.

I wonder why you chose to shoot at f/8. Is shooting wide open a better choice for this kind of image ?

Hi Krishna, thank you for viewing and commenting. Regarding shooting at F/8, I do it when I have the light (1/2500, F/8, ISO 640) and when I think it might be needed to have the wing tips sharp. Although the Snowy Egret is not big bird, the Wood Storks, Roseate Spoonbills, and Great Egrets are bigger birds. It also sometimes saves a image when the focus point is misplaced.
