Really stunning frame Andreas. The reds and blues (silvers?) of the bird match so well with the background colors. Great look at the eye and nice amount of space in front of the bird. Really impressed that that 200-400 looks so nice with the 2x -- I didn't know it handled TCs that well. TFS this

Great looking bird in nice colorful water. Low shooting angle brings it up a notch. Bird looks good but I can't tell if the head is a little over sharpened or not. Not sure if I am just not used to the feather structure on this species or what.

Thanks Alex and Isaac for your comments , much appreciated .
Isaac - the head received the same amount of sharpening as the whole image ( subject ) , capture sharpening ( DPP ) and output sharpening with PS .The feathers are quite rough with this species .
    Hope this helps .

Low POV help this image a lot. I like the split toned water. Techs on the bird very good, we have lots here during the winter and concur that the sharpening on the head is good for the species.

Hi Andreas, nice POV and I like the warm colours. Never a big fan of stacking due to loss of IQ, especially with the 2x and so for me at this size it's acceptable, but at Print or Photo Library vetting, I am hesitant.

    BTW Neil B stacked a 1.4 on this set-up!!!!

Thanks David and Steve for your comments , much appreciated .

Steve - no other option at time of shooting , so stack it or do not shoot .As they have been quite skittish and instead of massive cropping i opted for the 2X TC .

Well at least i opted for the 2x and did not use the internal one

Yes indeed David ...... i am more on the hairy side of nature photography , birds are more a side product or for testing equipment , or to keep me away from getting rusty .
Thanks for your comment , much appreciated .

    Cheers Andreas
