I visited my local Nature Reserve a few weekends ago and came away with this Portrait of a male Ostrich. He was right next to my car, and I remember I had to shoot this through the car out the passenger window. Taken early morning.

Beautiful image quality. I like a nice portrait that really shows off the details of the birds that we rarely see in the field. This looks great. I especially like the shadows of the eye lashes in the eye.

Stu, great details and light, if you have more room (neck) I would like to see a vertical crop on this to emphasis the long neck of this bird.

Cracking detail Stu, nice techs, good call on the SS too, but great to have the 'light'. DoF looks spot on with eye to the tip of the bill pin sharp.

Nice to have you back posting.

What a great looking portrait Stu! Nice DOF and details in this one. Not to often we see a close up of one of these huge birds. Although I have handled lots of big birds in my lifetime from Pelicans to Eagles, these guys always make me nervous when I am near them. They are Big and Powerful.

Glad to see you posting again!
