    Default House Finch

Spring is here. Actually I think it came yesterday and has now turned to summer. The Dogwood blossoms have begun to open, and my backyard birds are decked out in full breeding colors. This male House Finch is one of a number of species I caught on a dogwood branch near my feeders over the course of a half-hour yesterday morning.

Wish I had your Dogwood branch... lovely image. Pleasing composition, nice colors, sharp detail, perfect background, ticks all boxes. Thank you for sharing, Bill.

Lovely Bill, Happy Spring to you too! love this composition, placement of bird amidst the flowering dogwood. Image is well balanced and flower pieces on the side beak add interest. BG terrific as well as details on bird, well done.

Looks good to me, too. I like the leaf debris in the bill, showing that some species love to feast on fresh buds. Looks like the light was coming from above, but diffused by clouds. I do like the effect.

I get tons of birds in my yard but lousy light and bad backgrounds make for no pics! This is very nice. The flowers, background and perch are great.

Want to echo everyone else so far -- really nice setting, light is cool, great details and a smooth BG as well. Hopefully we can get a bit more Spring here before Summer kicks in. TFS

Hi Bill, I like the setting in this, and I like how the Finch is framed on the perch between the flowers. Lovely soft light, and I do like the colours of the finch.
