    Hi There

Shot of "Sirius" the Striated Caracara taken at HCT during his display. Caracaras are very intelligent birds and will move quite large objects in search of food.

In this shot Sirius is pulling a rather large fibreglass "prop rock" to one side in order to retrieve the piece of food found underneath.

He was a little too close for the 500mm lens that I had on the camera, but I quite like the tight framing, and he turned his head just enough to see the eye. I also like the raised foot showing the effort he is putting in to move the rock.

I've never really seen Caracara's up close or known much about therm so I find this quite interesting. Love the up close look at the struggle. The raised foot and the head turned to see the eye adds to the action. Well done.

    Hi John,

What a lovely behavior. This image tells the story IMO.
