Most of the Goldeneye have now left my hometown, and made their way back to Scandinavia. This will probably be the last photograph I get until next winter. I must say, it was great fun photographing them whilst it lasted.

Nice details on this handsome guy. I've said it to Dan multiple times how envious I am of how close you guys get to these ducks. No chance here in New York City. I like everything about this shot except the shooting angle is a little steep and the head does not seem as sharp to me as the rest of the bird.

Absolutely super Will, but I have to agree the head isn't as sharp as the wing.
If this was quite a big crop I would be tempted to reduce it very slightly.

Great wing position and exposure. I'd love to capture one of these guys some day. Head sharpness noted; maybe another dose of selective sharpening would help?

A net shot but for me the sharpness of the head still lags behind the body for some reason. In the re-post I would pull back on the sharpening on the body to balance it better.

Thanks Mike, I don't know what went wrong there with the sharpening. I did omit the eye from the head area when I selected it, as the eye looked over sharp when I sharpened it along with the head.
