I seen this bird, from my window, along with a female, swimming around, both feeding in the harbour. They are not very common in my part of the world, so I quickly put some warm clothing on and made my way to my usual perch and waited. From where I was situated, I couldn't see the bird, as I was behind some large rocks, low down, at water level. I must have waited for over an hour, then it appeared and swam past me.

An excellent shot, Will. I like the low vantage point

Your patience paid off, congratulations on the local rarity! Good low angle, head angle, and wind-swept coif. Harsh light though, you could try lessening its effect by reducing the contrast.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated. I'll reduce the contrast Dan, the light was pretty harsh on the day.
