Hi folks here is another image of the heavy Seal fight i witnessed recently on Helgoland , actually the only i saw during the visit .
Was very impressive to see these big guys fighting , unbelievable fast movements and so flexible in the body .

    Canon EOS 1Dx II
    EF 500 IS L II
    Tripod

    F 8 ; Iso 25600; 1/2000 sec ; man exp ; + 1EV

Processed with DPP 4.6 ( fine detail picture style ) and PS CC 2017 ; cropped for comp from the sides , i wished the FP,point was on the head , but it was on the chest of the LHS seal .

Thanks for looking and commenting to my previous posting .

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas- It depicts the violence of these fights well with all the wounds, flying sand and open mouths. Looks like you needed even more ss and dof but understand it was in the heat of the moment. Would prefer a bit more room above and below. IQ looks to have suffered a little bit here but still an interesting behavioral image.

    Rachel

Great use of high ISO and S/S here Andreas, and good to see you pushing the boundries, yes quality has suffered somewhat, DOF, a little tight and more S/S required but we're talking about 25K ISO here, and something just not possible (from Canon) until the MkI/II arrived.

The blood, open mouth and flying sand tell the story nicely.

    Dear Andreas,

Impressive frame with tons of drama! The contorted body and open mouth of the victim - or rather, what seems to be the victim - made a huge impression on me.
Well composed albeit a bit tight. Colours are great, so is detail. Super techs - considering the conditions you had to put up with, I think this is awesome

Once again, apologies for posting right after you last night and not passing a crit, I had a long day and could not spend a minute longer by the computer. Much as I wanted to:)

Back to seals... just wondering, if someone asks you what kind of photography you like doing, do you tell them you actually specialise in seal portraits?

Let us have some more, please Boetie!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Wow, a nice fight scene Andreas. I like the fact that you pushed that 1DX II to the limit. Amazing interaction and you did well to photograph this.

Thanks Marc , Gabriela , Rachel and Sanjeev for your kind comments .
Gabriela ... no not specialized in Seal portraits ..., just taking the given options .

I am happy , even if not ideal in terms of DOF and other minor flaws .... having the situation arising without a warning ....all is just going very fast , very difficult to follow the situation . specially with the big glass and i did not want to maneuver to miss something or to block other photogs . For seconds they did rest ....to start again fighting heavily and it was very difficult to keep them in the frame ....plus to focus on the heads ....almost impossible for me . It was more luck and/or hit and miss . Well my view of things , for sure i wished all frames would have been in focus and perfectly framed ...but in real life ... it was different .
I think IQ has not suffered that much when i look at the whole thing.

    Thanks again , Andreas

Hi Andreas, I agree with Marc's comments, however you could have expanded the ISO, not tried that yet, be interesting.
