Hi Colin, What a wonderful cloud formation...! Nice colour too although there appears to be a vignette added which I think is making the image slightly 'heavy' for me, not by much tho...

Thanks Don, can't see any vignette and certainly didn't add one. The RAW image is no different. The light from the rising sun was quite focused so that might be giving the impression.

Hi Colin, yes it is the impression I was referring to, what you actually did I don't know.... So my suggestion then would be to lift the exposure slightly using a mask to keep the centre untouched. Might not suit your tastes but it's something I would look at trying.

Amazing shot. That must be one heck of a lens to handle that sunrise the way it did. What do you use for equipment? Thanks for sharing

Hi Colin, what a gorgeous sky with great colour and sharpness in the clouds. I am assuming you captured this handheld due to the ISO 1600 and f6.3? I think you could have stopped the lens down further to say f11 or f16 and still handhold the shot with the 16-35mm lens to yield the foreground shoreline to be sharper than it appears here. The vignette that Don is referring to appears that it could be light fall-off caused by the lens. To correct for this you should open your RAW file in ACR and adjust the vignette and midpoint sliders until you have reduced or eliminated the effect. Looking forward to more :)

Thanks Andrew, yes it was hand held. However the shot is pretty much straight out of the camera with no sharpening applied. Still can't see any vignetting because the scene looks much as it was that morning and I haven't noticed any coming from that lens in other shots but will check it out. I appreciate all the comments and suggestions.

I love this as presented, Colin! Very dramatic and I really love the texture in the sky!
