    Default Tri-Colored Heron Portrait

    I captured this image at Green Cay, Delray Beach, Florida, with the handheld Nikon D500 (crop sensor) and AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm 1-5.6E ED VR. I wish I had a better angle with the sensor parallel with the beak, but couldn't get it.

    Processed in LR and PS.
    Crop < 25% for presentation

    Amazing detail and color on the head. Nice pose and comp. With the D500 you could go well above ISO 400 to allow you to stop down for more DOF, but you're right that a slightly more parallel pose would have helped.

    pretty cool, nice sharp details, good BG. I wish the head was more parallel to the back of the camera as the bill is running out of DOF
