Somewhere in the distance there had to be a sibling my cheetah female was looking for. She kept calling, soft calls, feline meows, almost inaudible at times. She ran up and down erratically and I struggled to anticipate her movements. As soon as she stopped and looked back for a moment I tried to capture the longing in her eyes and what I thought was a kind of despair. Maybe it was all my imagination but I know for a fact the species struggle a bit on their own - the Kalahari is a rough place, best to have a mate to help hunt and watch out for larger predators. Alertness is simply not enough, so many lions and leopards around.
Image captured at lunch time so the light was pretty harsh. Wind was blowing quite hard and thus promising more rain. The sun played hide and seek, this made it more difficult for me to change camera settings, nevertheless I kept faithful to the histogram. Hope the negative space is not too much for you, I am stubborn ( again ) about my choice of composition.

Thank you so much for your time to view, appreciated.
Hi Gabriela, I do like the look back and the negative space which I feel is OK. But like Andreas's Rhino, I'm not a lover of the lower LH corner, I feel that the initial detail in the original capture should come through, which IMHO helps balance the image. Not sure if the Shadows just need a little lifting along with the whites? I might also tweak the Orange, but again viewing on the laptop is not ideal. Techs look good and you handled the light well.
Hi Gabriela - Nice look back pose and sharpness. The comp works for me here with a nice amount of negative space (not too much). If it were mine I would reduce the yellows in the whites a bit. You handled the harsh light well. I hope she found her sibling or whomever she was calling.
Hi Gabriela i like the look back pose of the Cheetah as well ,a simple portrait with again a super creamy BG .
I am fine with the BG as presented , but think the LHS is a tad too empty ....meaning i would loose a bit .Lovely detail in the cheetah and the overall colors look quite good to me, but would try the yellows as per Rachelīs observations .
My initial thought was that the darker tones are a tiny bit too dark , specially the eyes do look a bit dark , but this could be just me, or my screen set to different values .
Enjoyed viewing this image ....keep them coming
I think the OP was slightly too orange for my own liking. And I brought back the detail/ grasses with one small tweak. Forgot about the tip of that grass... aww Steve, you do not miss anything thank you for that!
