I love all the earthy/brown tones, and the image is very well balanced. The yellow eye stands out beautifully.

Like it?- love it! Love the visible beak and fine feathers.
Looks very similar to the thistles and marshy habitat where I used to photograph them near my home.

Nice to have the habitat whilst in flying mode.

Would you believe it, almost an hour with one chilled SEO where I ran out of lens, he came to us and for Jamie, even a 16-35 was possible. Will post something when I'm back, thanks Arash. Might go back Sunday....

Wow Arash, indeed I really like this image. A great environmental shot, with nice differentiation between the sharpness on the bird (particularly the eye/face area) and the soft but instantly recognizable surroundings - the bird really 'pops' because of that textural contrast, giving a 3-d effect. Nice that the beak is clearly defined too. A well-judged amount of space in front of the bird (something I'm still coming to terms with in my own avian photography), and the wings-down capture shows off the wonderful patterning on the wing dorsal surfaces. Also, as Daniel noted, that yellow eye highlight grabs the attention against the brown tones.

Another really nice SEO frame, and I love the environmental aspect to the shot. Colours are wonderful and I like the view of the beak. Being uber-picky I'd have preferred the far wing to have been a little further downstroke, but I'd still love to have this one in my files.

Arash stunning sharp as a knife as always, lovely colour. I've spent hours, hmm probably days hoping for chances of this bird, could you talk to me about your shutter speed please. Arash I'm curious as to why it's so low this time. The 1dxii you can push iso for more shutter, can you explain your logic please so I can learn from it. Obviously the image is sharp so you had enough and you knew that, but previously I asked about a much higher Ss on a perched bird and your were set for filght,it was 1/5000,i'm digging for why the too are so different? Is this disparity (to my learner eyes) purely down to light levels, you had to use 1/1600 here as no option? As you can see I'm confused.

Arash in no way am I calling you out, just in case my feeble words get misunderstood i'm quizzing you because if I do happen to get that chance(much yearned for) I want to have the best chance possible of nailing the shot.

It's somewhat ironic that for 2 years now I just haven't been able to get one chance at bettering what I took with a canon 550D despite an almost reliigous undertaking to try. It's likely that chance wont come now until next year, as they will be off back home to breed But if it did any pointers for me to get techs right is the reason for my post.

Beyond the obvious of course... as always, a joy to view, an inspiration an image to aspire to

    cheers for sharing
