Brown Pelican

Another close up of a Brown Pelican from Sebastian Inlet State Park in Florida. Was looking to get a shot like this for a while where you could just concentrate on the beautiful and colorful parts around the head and eye. Background is the waters of the inlet.

Canon 1dx and Canon 500 f4 ii. Tripod mounted. f9, ISO 640, SS 1/2000. As with other pelican shot I posted the shutter speed seems excessive but there was a really strong wind blowing and I was trying to freeze the feathers so they did not look like a blurred mess. Also wanted to keep the whites under control and not be stuck with gray feathers cause I had to lower the highlights.

Fantastic colors Isaac . Looks like f9 kept everything nice and sharp , I often only think of that after reviewing the shot and seeing the sharpness fall off toward the back.
