    Default Brown Pelican Portrait

Did a short family vacation to Florida. Weather was far from ideal and most of time spent in bad places for photography (not my choice of course!!!). From Sebastian Inlet State Park on my one and only day of full sun in the sunshine state and my only morning without a cloud in the sky.

Canon 1dx and Canon 500 f4 ii. Tripod Mounted. ISO 500, F9, SS 1/2500. There was a fierce wind blowing and I needed all the shutter speed I could get to try and stop the feathers from just looking blurry. Shot as vertical. Full frame.

Converted in DPP 4.5. In PS I applied NR to background and sharpened.

Excellent portrait in tough conditions, Isaac. Nice detail, great hairdo, and like the deep blue BG.

Tone of the shot is to passive (in my opinion) but i like it!

Lovely pelican portrait. Great detail, and beautiful in-camera composition. Good colors on the bird. The ones we saw didn't have as much color.

Great detail and BG. The whites were really nicely handled as well. TFS

I'm not sure what you mean Amanda by the tone of the shot being too passive. Do you mean it is not doing something more interesting or what?
