Hello folks another frame of the special ... European Bison , a very endangered species .
Just a handful survived around the beginning of the last century in Poland , from then a long but successful journey started across some countries in Europe . Today there are several reserves where you can find them .... in Europe .The largest , fully free roaming population is based where the story started .... in eastern poland .
This guy was photographed in " De Kemmenerduinen " in the Netherlands .

    Canon EOS 1Dx II
EF 200-400 IS L with TC engaged at 442 mm

    F 6,3 ; Iso 6400 ; 1/2000 sec

Processed with DPP 4 and PS CC 2017 ; slight crop for comp

Thanks fro watching and commenting to my previous thread

Hi Andreas, very well exposed here and lots of good details at ISO-6400 even in the dark area of the face. I'm impressed. The OOF FG is a bit of distraction to me. I'd suggest cropping some off. Loi

This is super Andreas, love those colours and details. I like the OOF grasses in the foreground. The coat seems to be much softer in texture compared to the American Bison.
I am curious do you think the image would have been noticeably more noisy if you had used a 1DX as oppose to the MKII?

Hi Andreas - Great eye contact here and nice detail. I could see this as a frame filler with some of the brush at the bottom cropped off.

Hi Andreas -- This is a lovely image with the bison starring down the barrel , nice details you have got here and very nicely processed as well . I too would like to crop the FG and have a more closer look of the subject . Very nicely done .

    TFS !

Hi Andreas, I quite like the portrait, but agree that the bottom FG is a little too dominating, if you have it perhaps just moving the whole crop up or simply going 3x2 and ROT's works I think??? Is it some OOF grass that is faintly over the nose LHS?

Nicely process based on the ISO, but see you reverted back to DPP & not C1.

Thanks so much folks ... for your kind comments and suggestions .
All are very constructive and much appreciated .
For me the image does work as presented , including the FG mush .
Understand your points very well , i wanted to keep a wider view and avoid pixel bashing .I have more images of head on shots , right in the face where i do not have to pixel bash . So be patient .... will post soon.

Steve what means ROTīs ? BTW this 3x2 , i think you mean 7x5 or 5x4 ...right ?

Jon i think at Iso 6400 the 1Dx will perform nearly as good , but for sure there is a difference when pixel peeping , but not at web size .If processed well i bet no one can tell a difference ....IMHO.

    Thanks Andreas

Really nice! The soft, mushy surrounds work well, and the variety of red/earthy tones compliments the photo.
