    Hello everyone !

These are the two brothers from the Rajbehra family of Bandhavgarh. A litter of cubs 3 males and a female cub. Currently the cubs have grown to a age of almost 2 years and are now thriving on their own but the female cub died a few months back . Saw these two in their happier days , relaxing under a tree and waiting for there mother to bring back some food.

DPP 4.5 , CS6, WB,selective colour, curves, saturation, reduced the contrast,Sharpening , cropped slightly from the top, bottom and right hand side , cloned out a distracting element from the BG.

Canon 5D MK III, Canon 500mm f4 IS II,Bean Bag.

    1/1600 sec; f/8; ISO 2500.

All your C&C's are most welcome.

Wow Haseeb! This may be a new favorite your images for me. Love the relaxed pose, the sharp paw and head and the eye contact. In an ideal world I'd prefer a bit more separation between the two tigers but not a deal breaker by any means. If it were mine, I would reduce the reds particularly in the trees and also darken the bg slightly. Minor adjustments that I think will take it up a notch.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Thank you Rachel -- I am really glad that you pointed out that colour tweak, i knew there was something happening with the colours but was not able to figure it out. Thought you would certainly be a help in that regards. Thank you very much for your suggestions and kind words of appreciation .

Hi Haseeb i really the Tigers lying down in a relaxed pose , checking you out and being framed by the trees .
Very cool eye contact of both cats and i do like the wider view of the frame . You have nice fine details , good tonal range and lovely realistic colors .
I do not see a need of dropping any reds .... i might drop the oranges in the tigers a tiny fraction . And i might try to open up the darks a faction , as the shadows do appear a bit dark to me.

    Very nice frame Haseeb.

    TFS Andreas

Wow the tiger is beautifully rendered wonderful colours and details. When I first looked I thought just about perfect, having said that I have now read previous comments and think perhaps the image could be even better.

Hi Haseeb, a really 'cool' image, great eye contact and love the low POV.

Agree with Andreas about the reds, but re 'orange' perhaps subjective. Techs look good with a good SS. Not sure as viewing on the laptop, but perhaps darkening the FG & the light BKG may help add some depth????

    Hi Haseeb
just revisited the thread and read your intro again ...
I have a question ....why are you reducing the contrast in PS ?
To me it does make no sense to reduce the contrast afterwards ...as if you have too much contrast in the TIF file , it is more difficult to reduce it and risk tonal mismatch .
From my POV it is better to start with a low contrast file ( coming from i.e. DPP) and add contrast if needed in PS .....just a thought .
In an ideal scenario it would be great to get the perfect file from DPP ...but this seldomly the case.
The biggest issue for me is the mismatch of tone and colors ...when sending the file to PS for downsizing / clean up and other tweaks.
From that POV i understand people prefer working with ACR /LR ...as there is no mismatch of the same.
I do work in between with Capture 1 .... the mismatch is significantly smaller ....than with DPP
Still go a lot with DPP .....i like it complicated

I wish Canon would add the option of working in ProPhoto RGB in DPP....

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Jon i have setup DPP to Wide Gamut ....not the same .
None of the Color space are the same .
    Cheers Andreas

and it would be even better from my POV to shoot in ProPhoto RGB

Hi Andreas -- Sorry for the late reply .

I think it is more of a case where I am ignorant abt the technicality that you mentioned , I will change my workflow as you mentioned above in pane no 9 . Thank you for the information.

Hi Haseeb ....as mentioned from my side in Loi´s Lion King thread ..... it is not THE SILVER BULLET what i say generally .Just my way to work !!!!!
So please do not follow blindly ....just try ...and be critical with the changes or the comparison between the different ways.
For example ....picture style standard ....does work too on wildlife images , depending on the file you can use it with no problem . You might need to tweak it ....

    Cheers Andreas

Yes definitely Andreas , I should have mentioned i would try and see but the explanation that you gave is worth pondering upon because uptill now I was just reducing contrast in PS as the files after re sizing the image were getting quite contrasty hence the reduction in contrast at PS stage. Yes I do try different things and apply and see most of the things suggested on BPN .

Haseeb i do not get it why the images become more contrasty after resizing ?????
I do not have that issue ....in many cases i even give a tad more contrast after resizing !!!!

That was more of resize issue for which you told me to try automate step, but it is not there anymore .

I have tried all sorts in the past .... .... which one are you referring to?

BTW i send you a picture style for DPP , a have manipulated the standard one for underexposed images ...have a play with it

Hope you know how to use it ? Meaning getting the picture style into DPP

Some good builds on colour etc above...
I will just add that I like the quirky nature of the shot, and the framing!
