Another Algonquin Park specialty, and likely the same individual Andrew posted a couple weeks ago. These guys are charming, curious, and fun. Once in a they will offer poses that are just too cute, such as this one. They look sweet and cuddly, but in reality they are rather vicious predators. This time it held the pose long enough for me to flip the camera to vertical a get a couple of FFers...
Canon 7DII + 500mm f/4 II, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/500s., f/4, ISO 1600, natural light, FF, saturation and contrast tweaks to taste, an thin oof twig removed from the URC.
Hi Dan, great inquisitive pose, but it's lose 'glossy' eyes that just draw you in.
DoF is perfect, as I like the way the nose and ears just drift/tail off and so DoF for me, is less critical here, although I guess it might also be maximising SS??? The snow white backdrop isolates the subject perfectly and all that the viewer sees is the subject. Colours have a nice depth/richness to them. What's not to like?
Super cute Daniel. Love the expression and the pose. You did well by including the front legs nd paws for this portrait. Would like to visit the park next time I'm in Ottawa. Loi
Great capture Dan and a very nice clean background....I too find there seems to always be a twig that needs to be cloned out. They do not usually hold that kind of pose for too long so great that he did for you...it works so well as a vertical capture!!!
Dear Daniel,
I am smitten with your Pine Marten! Beautiful pose and expression as well as detail. Wonderful rich colours and tonality. Superb capture, congratulations
