    Default A Relaxed Family !

    Hello everyone !

Thank you for C&C's on my previous post. Here is another one for this months theme , a pride of lions relaxing on an elevated area after an unsuccessful attempt to bring down a warthog. Liked the moment when all of them had their heads turned towards us ( well almost ).

DPP 4.5, CS6, WB,curves, selective colour, sharpening , cropped from the top and bottom for a pano look and slightly from both the sides as well , removed small portion of the sky by using clone and heal tools .

    Canon 1D MK IV , Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS II @ 185mm , HH.

    1/5000 sec; f/3.2; ISO 1600 ( not the perfect techs, don't know what i was thinking ) .

All your C&C's are most welcome.

Haseeb this looks lovely with the adults and cubs giving you there full attention, the fact that they are on that piece of raised ground really helps with your composition, must admit these calm scenes are more up my street than the kill ones, all down to the individual me thinks, like this a lot.

Hi Haseeb - Great look at the pride and you got most of them looking your way. Pano crop works. A warthog would have barely been an hors d'oeuvre for a pride this size. I agree with your self-critique about the tech settings. I would have gone for much more dof and dropped the ss.

Hi Haseeb a nice family portrait.
All clearly visible which is a bonus .Pano crop works well and you have a nice backdrop to isolate the Lions.
Techs are as they are ....... we are all there , from time to time.

Hi Haseed, what a lovely scene with the pride on a mount with green all around. Not sure about the comp. The lions are a bit small int he frame and center. Did you have any frame at closer range and shorter focal length? Loi

Thank you Loi ! It was pretty difficult to get any closer, the chances were to disturb the little ones. I had just a few opportunities to get the shot , after that few of them especially the cubs came down from the mound and went behind the tall grass.

As indicated it is a beautiful scene - I think the 3 distinct tiers of foreground, middle ground and back ground certainly add to the image
