    Default Giraffe Family

Taken in the Timbavati Game Reserve, South Africa. We were having our morning break when these giraffes approached. Ideally I would prefer that the low barren bush was not in the fg in front of the giraffes but because we were on foot, I didn't want to move too much and spook the giraffes. I like how the male, female and youngster are all different shades here.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Hi Rachel, I quite like the 'towering' effect of the three and the various tones/shades of colour, but moving very slowly to the right would have been a better PoV and carefully done, I think the Giraffe's would have been OK as the barren bush is a little distracting as you say.

The image does need a CCW rotation and the FG can go darker, for more depth. It's a little clipped either side, Blacks in the very shadow areas, but that might be the compression perhaps. Personally I might have upped some of the colours, personal taste.

Hi Rachel -- This is so nicely done . I loved the symmetry here , wished you could have got the youngster somewhat closer to the couple. The bush is somewhat distracting but it was there and hence nothing could be done. Light has been nicely handled and well processed. I really enjoyed viewing this image , always great to see these creatures from such close quarters.

Hi Rachel, I agreed with Steve regrading the POV and colors, but at the same time, Shooting right away is the right thing. I missed a number go good opportunities not he recent trip for not shooting as soon as the vehicle stopped. Loi

I like how they are framed on either side, Rachel, with good size and colour differences to show people what that looks like.
I do wish that FG bush was not there, in this instance it really pulls at my eyes

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. Loi, I agree always good to get a couple before trying to reposition. I looked back at the images from the sighting and there was a downed tree to the right (the elephants must have been through the area) and the giraffes started walking off to the left shortly after this image.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

Giraffes are such inquisitive things and this image shows that so nicely. They seem so engaged with the viewer and that adds a whole lot imo
