    Default African Wild Dog

This African wild dog, (African hunting dog, African painted dog) is from the same pack as the previous posting. These Dogs kept coming into camp and this was taken just after lunch, so no time for a nap, but it appeared I was the only one interested, albeit 200m from our tented lodge. Light was bright and so Exposure was being constantly checked, as they darted back & fourth in the tall grasses.

Thanks to those who viewed or posted a comment on the previous thread.

Nice capture Steve and the background grasses blurred out nicely avoiding unwanted distractions from them.

The blurred background hints at a really professional image taker ! The light is bright however very well handled imo. Great pose as well. The different colours of the dog being so well exposed in that bright light is another sign of a world class photographer

Thanks guys, having the subject far enough away from the background, plus DoF did create a nice/pleasing (I guess) BKG which just add to the separation. Would have been better I think Basil as know, to have shot it earlier or later in the day, but you take what you are dealt. The following day the pack created some mischief by playing, resting and trotting back and fourth along the air strip preventing some flights landing until we moved them on, fun in the bush.

Hi Steve, not much you can do with the light at high noon, but you exposed the shadow well. I would have done the same giving up nap to photograph ild dogs even at high noon. Loi

Hi Steve - I like the simplicity of this profile view. You handled the harsh light well. Interesting as he almost looks bearded here. The comp works very well with just the right amount of negative space.

Hi Steve -- The harsh light has been handled so well here , something to learn for us . Nicely separated from the BG and the simple side profile works very well . nicely done .

    TFS !
