    Default Laptop recommendation please

My 2011 MacBook Pro gave up ...the classic problem with the video card..thanks, Apple.
new MacBook Pro computers are crazy expensive....thanks again, Apple .
Considering going for a PC, despite it would mean changing my whole system and selling my thunderbolt display as well. I'm not sure what I can get here in Yucatán, but I'd like to hear your recommendations. I haven't had a PC for over 12 years and I don't even know what I should look out for. I want a laptop for travel ease. Please comment. Thank you.

Buy the previous generation 2015 retina mac book pros.

I have had all sorts of PC laptops at work (Dell, Hp, Lenovo) and they are all garbage without exception both the hardware and windows that runs it. Waste of $ IMO. The new MacBook Pro's are sure pricey but you can get the 2015 model which is just as fast and has a larger battery at a great price. You can get a nice quad core i7 with 16GB ram fro about 2K.

i can only get the one with 256gb SSD....will it be enough? For the rest it looks like a powerful computer...it is from mid 2015.

I'm very happy with my 15" Asus Zenbook with i7 processors. Fast, quiet, light, thin, very good battery life. It's running on Windows 7. Windows is not great, but not too bad either. It has crashed less often than my wife's Macbook. I'm not sure about Windows 10. I got the free upgrade on my older HP Elitebook workstation, but that came with a lot of annoying bugs. There are some great improvements too, it functions more like iOs now.
However, given that you have a good Mac display that you're happy with, I'd go for Arash' suggestion too.
If not, look into the Asus Zenbook series. There're generally half the price of the Macbooks.

Be sure to read reviews on sites like notebookcheck.net, that do really thorough tests, including the coverage of color space of the screen and all sorts of other diagnostics on screen characteristcs that are important to photographers. Non-Apple laptops used to (and most still do) have crappy screens, but the higher end models now generally have good IPS screens with good color reproduction and most cover at least sRGB color space. Test of the 2015 Macbook pro here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Apple-M....144402.0.html
