First post to the site, please be gentle with me!!

    Nikon D800E, Nikon 500mm F4 VR, TC 1.4 III,
    1/1600, F8, 0EV, ISO 1250

Initial pp in LR5 for exposure then in PS for noise red, sharpening and a bit of contrast via Topaz. Significant crop.

Spot focus, Shot from a Monopod with a fixed head. Nice sunny day, good light.
The warbler was protecting its territory from other birds whilst looking for food for its chicks
Taken on the Jubilee River, Berks, UK

Unsure whether to have cropped to get the bird more to the left.

Welcome to BPN Andy. Lovely pose on the bird and a nice HA. I like how it is holding onto the top of the perch. The significant crop, has lowered the IQ on the bird. Beautiful shades of green in the BG. I would crop from the LHS. I think, if you left some more room around the bird, the IQ would be better.

    Nice one, keep them coming.

Welcome Andy. Nice perch and calling pose you have here. Background is busy but very interesting and appropriate for the bird. I agree with William that I would loosen the crop a bit to get better image quality and would also crop to have the bird to the left so you give it room to look into.. I would also tone down the brightest highlights of the perch and throat. Something that I always try and remember is to keep the sun at my back. Maybe 10 or 15 degrees left or right at most so I can get the best direct light on the bird and also avoid shadows like you have on the right side of your bird. Also I would do a round of noise reduction on the background. Mostly easy fixes(other than the shadows of course) for a nice first post.

    Isaac, William,
thanks for the welcomed input. I thought it was a stretch to crop so deep. Here is another try but this time nowhere near the crop. I guess somehere in the middle might be better. I have toned down the noise in the background and adjusted down the hightlights on the bird and post just a tad. Although the IQ is better with a lower crop, I'm not that happy with the output sharpening on having to resize to the image size requirements - a bit more practice needed to post here I think.
On the angle of the sun, I was seated on the bank waiting for the bird to approach - which it eventually did but not enough to get the sun in the right place.
Thanks both for the very useful advice. I will try and post a few more in the coming days/weeks.

Welcome Andy, nice shot. I like the second version of your image with great advice given below. The highlights on the bird and perch still look a bit high on my monitor.

Hi Andy. I like the repost. It also gives a show of the habitat. Maybe somewhere in between as you suggested. I also think you can tone down the highlights. Thanks for reposting.
