    Default Common Nighthawk II

I made the mistake of posting this photo to another thread that I had started without reading about only one pic per thread.

This is the same nighthawk as in the other pic, but this one is a little closer and provides more detail and a closer crop. The bg is a little different with some green running through the bird's body, but I don't think it detracts too much. I'm not sure about the eye being open on this bird with sunlight coming in, but it's the best pic I have of this bird.

Also, I misspoke about the time of day this was taken in the earlier photo. This was around 7:30pm.

Greg, I like this one a lot more, nice BG, HA and catchlight, even though the post is manmade it has some age to it so it works for me.
    Good Job.

Greg I definitely like this one better. More detail and the background so matches the bird. You have to wonder if these birds use a perch that matches their colors.
The moss or lichens match so well to some of the feathers.I agree with Tim the perch works well here because of the character and age plus the colors match so well the bird.

excellent frame, the perch is weathered enough that hides the man made factor. I might reduce the contrast a bit

Awesome shot. The only time I have actually seen and photographed nighthawks is during migration and I'm always looking at them from below. Nice to see such a great profile of one. I'd be stoked to have gotten this shot.
