    Default Slate Colored Junco

Shot this on a dark snowy day last winter figured it had enough snow to fit the theme. Canon 5III, 500f4. ISO2500,f6.3@ 1/200sec. Thanks for looking.

Hi Joe I have taken similar images in the past, well exposed good detail etc, I ask myself however is this pose ideally suited to showing the bird?

Joe I take Jons point but this is often the pose that birds take in the cold and your scene certainly looks cold, bird blends in well with the conditions you have taken this under, love the snow flakes.

Picked this pic to fit the theme not document the bird. Thanks for the input.

I like the almost symmetrical perch and the falling snow. Bird looks good and the head on look is kind of cool. Not sure what is going on behind the birds head on the left side of the head but it is quite blurry. Maybe a wind gust? I find it distracting.

I kinda like these head-on poses, especially nice to have in the files alongside the more traditional profiles. I have a few of Snow Buntings like that which I like. Neat perch and I like the snow falling. I could see a version closer to a true 3:2 vertical, but it certainly works as is too.

    Thanks guys.

Isaac nothing added or taking away from the BG or the bird and did not notice what your talking about most likely DOF fall off or wind. Thanks for the input as always.

What a fun image. Love the head on pose for something different and the falling snow. Very nice feather details.
