    Default Semipalmated Plover

Another plus from my Florida trip was photographing birds that I only usually see from up-close back home during fall migration, but this time with breeding plumages. With the Semipalmted Plover, for example, I had only previously ever seen them as juveniles or winter plumaged individuals. I was rather happy to see some with their fresh breeding feathers:). This photo taken at Ft. Desoto's North Beach. This plover luckily stopped beside a washed-up seaweed...the added greenery is a bonus in my eyes!

    Canon 40D + 100-400L @400mm, manual, 1/800s., f/7.1, ISO400, -0.3 EC, fill @ -0.7FEC, handheld lying flat on beach, ~80% full-frame.

Good DOF and low perspective! I agree that the green adds to the image.

Great angle, light, exposure control and details. I wish I could get a full frame image at 400mm around here.

Wow! Wonderful image. Great DOF, great lighting, great colors. Just all around great.
I appreciate the specs on this forum soooo much. It helps me to get an understanding on how to shoot these beautiful images.
    Thanks so much.

Love the shot - the light quality is beautiful but it seems to be a bit behind the bird leaving the face a little shady...notice the position of the light in the eye. You have some awesome color and a beautiful bg / fg. Very pretty image.

Very nice light, colors, and detail. Slight turn of the head would've really lit up that eye.

I love this image, Daniel. Good use of fill flash. The background is very nice, and the greenery is huge plus in my eyes as well. Super sharp. I think you could have gotten even lower though :D
