Another shot from this summer. Eastern Bluebird from grasslands in New Jersey.

    Canon 7d mark ii and Canon 500 f4 ii + 1.4x iii. ISO 500, F7.1, SS 1/3200. Tripod mounted

Converted in DPP 4.5. Exposure +.17. In PS I cropped for square, applied NR to background. Toned down the blues by lowering the cyan, yellow and blue.

Isaac I like these simple uncluttered shots with the bird on a nice clean BG.Colours on the bird look very natural with plenty of detail on the feathers ,very nice indeed.

    Hi Isaac,

I agree with Keith's comments, an eye-catching image. Also, the background has some nice gradations that seem to help the composition. Good color contrast between background and subject as well.

One suggestion: for a static subject with camera on tripod you could perhaps have got away with one full step lower shutter speed (1/1600) and the corresponding one stop smaller aperture, which may have generated enough extra depth of field to prevent the bird's tail just dropping out of focus - admitting though that you may have been waiting for a potential takeoff and flight shot and had the SS set high for that.

    Cheers, David

Nice and simple, and with tons of fine details. Good call toning down the blues....they look natural this way.
