    Default Common Nighthawk

This picture was taken in June of 2015 during the middle of the day. It was my first sighting of a Common Nighthawk and the only one I've seen to this point sitting on a fence post.

    7DII, 500 f4L, 1/1600 @ f4, ISO 200, about 50% crop from original

Thanks in advance for any C&C,
    Greg

Greg, How fortunate you were to see this bird perched. This is a beauty. I like how the background colors complement the bird. Nice comp. Looks sharp, but I find myself wanting to get closer to see more detail. I don't mind the perch. I hope to see this bird some day. So far, I've only seen it in low light, flying overhead at a distance. TFS

Greg lovely shot. I would have never guessed in the middle of the day. It would have been nicer if you could have been closer for more detail.
I shot one in the middle of the day but it was laying down got quite close. They seem pretty tame but never could get a good head angle going away. The background is superb in your photo.Like how it compliments the post and birds natural colors.

Hi Greg, I would have liked to see a little bit tighter crop if you have the room, and I would lighten some of the shadows just a bit also.
Nice BG. Nice find, I've never seen one in person.

    Hello Greg,

Thanks for sharing this perched beauty. I've only seen them at dusk. Beautiful color palette in the background to complement the bird. Agree with the others about a bit tighter of a crop if you can manage it.
