Taken last December at Fort DeSoto. I love that long toe!
PP: Crop to 80% FF, Usual clarity and saturation sliders in LR5 then off to CS5 for levels, some DE to bird and I cloned out 2 short branches on left side of big branch. USM to JPEG

Very nice pose with the lifted foot, I can just visualize it effortlessly and totally soundless climbing that stick sneaking up on a fish or frog that wont know what hits them til too late!

That's a beauty, Gail. I love the pose, and the wonderful background. (I wonder if the BG would benefit from just a touch more NR?) I'm headed to Ft. DeSoto in a week or so; I hope he poses an nicely for me.

Hi Gail, lovely IQ, and cant beat light like that. I like the intense stare, together with the raised foot, and I also like how the perch runs through the frame. Killer BG.

I really like this Gail. Great pose on a very interesting perch. Common bird presented in an uncommon way adds much interest to the image. Light is to die for as is the background. Just excellent all around.

Woo hoo, long toe indeed! pretty frame my friend. I like your composition and how clean the branch and BG are... Im certain your exposure is spot on but id be tempted to increase the blacks and see if the heron's color gave more "pop." A beauty for sure!

Beautifully captured, Gail. Really get the feeling of slow motion stalking. Like the raised foot and lovely BG.

Very nice Gail. I like the pose with the raised foot and the intense stare. Details, colors and exposure all look fantastic too. That's my kind of BG. Well done.

Well composed, fun pose but the BG is what makes this one special to my eyes.
